WHAT ABOUT PARASITES?
Parasites are more common than we may think! We deworm dogs, horses, and cat but why not people? Because we live in the USA most think that parasites are not a problem but that is not necessarily true! We import food from all over which can carry parasites, eggs and cysts which can make themselves comfy in our body.
Can parasites be a missing link in your health story? Yes! It’s a good idea to do a parasites cleanse.
What about testing?
Testing is not always the best, stool testing only works if the parasites show up in the stool sample, which it doesn’t always do.
What are intestinal parasites? The major global contributors to intestinal parasites are: Ascaris, Entamoeba, Toxoplasma, Cyclospora, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium. A common example is hookworks or pinworms.
How do they spread? The main cause of direct transmission is by close contact- the fecal-oral route, with hands spreading a lot of the eggs. Indirectly parasites can spread by surfaces or food. Parasites have even been found in household dust! Raw or lightly cooked vegetables and fruit can also be risk factor for parasites associated with gastroenteritis. Your spinach salad could be carrying some parasite eggs on them! In this study ( https://www.jpeds.com/article/S0022-3476(22)00282-7/fulltext#%20 ) they measured different parasites in fruit and vegetables imported from different parts of the country. It was very eye opening. The incidence of protozoan parasites is about 1.9% – 9.3%. This study based on the findings think this is an underestimated number.
What is the big deal about parasite infections?
Deficiencies in vitamins A, B6, B12 and minerals such as iron, calcium and magnesium can occur from a parasitic infection. This can lead to malnutrition and affect growth, being undetected for years Infections can also block nutrient absorption and negativity affect the immune system.
How to prevent and treat?
Handwashing is the most important with hygiene and proper washing.
There are also medications such as mebendazole and pyrantel, which are growing resistance.
What about a parasite cleanse?
Yes! This is very helpful and recommended to do 1-2 times a year.
Botanicals do work well against parasite activity and has been used for decades. Woodworm and black walnut are two of the botanicals that are very active against parasites.
When doing a parasite cleanse, it’s also very important to have a binder to support the detoxification and binding of the parasites that are killed. Gut support is also very helpful in this protocol.
